Matthew Miller died unexpectedly on February 27, 2026.
Matthew was born May 19, 1972 to Helen and Lyle Miller and grew up on a farm in Janesville where he learned the values of hard work, responsibility, and loyalty. In 1987, the family moved to Mankato a place Matthew would proudly call home for the rest of his life. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1990.
Matthew found his passion for cooking while working at the Mankato Golf Club where he spent several years developing his skills. He went on to serve as Executive Chef with TGI Friday's catering, spent time working at Buster's and ultimately found his forever work family at Applebee's. There, Matthew formed deep friendships and connections with people he loved and respected.
Matthew was an avid music lover, especially heavy metal, and a devoted fan of professional wrestling. He enjoyed gaming, particularly Destiny, and had a lifelong love for Pokémon. He was a pop culture enthusiast who enjoyed horror movies and anything that sparked curiosity and conversation.
Above all else, Matthew's greatest love was his cats-Archie, Moe, and Tami. They were his constant companions, his comfort, and his family. He cared for them with unwavering devotion, and they were truly the most important part of his daily life.
Matthew is survived by his mother, Helen Lindstrom; his sisters, Jennifer Potocnik ( Matthew) and Nancy Olson (Brennan) and his beloved nieces and nephews, Rachel, Ella, Elliot, Willow, and Wyatt.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, loyalty, creative spirit, and the deep love he shared with both people and animals.
