Mervin William Urban, age 88, of North Mankato and formerly of Amboy passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024.
Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Snowbirds Event Center in Amboy. Northview – North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mervin was born on April 3, 1935, in Willow Creek, MN to Wilhelm and Minna Urban. He graduated from Amboy High School. Mervin married his wife, Lorraine “Rainy” in Rural Amboy on April 4, 1953.
Mervin owned a gas station for most of his life and did bulk deliveries. He was active in the Amboy community where he was the mayor for two terms. Mervin enjoyed participating in fastpitch softball, being a coach, driving school bus, playing league pool, trapshooting, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mervin is survived by his children, Stephen, Teresa (David) Maine, and Randy (Denise); grandchildren, Tad (Jamie Rose) Dechaine, William (Melissa) Urban, Tara (Jason) Lobitz, Jocelin (Tammy) Maine, Jeremiah Maine, Chris (Sarah) Urban, Melissa (Greg) Brown, Andrew (Callie) Urban, Hilary Urban, and Chad Hogie; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Janie (Dean) Lee; brother-in-law, Robert (Ruth) Conrad as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mervin was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; parents; daughter-in-law, Tranna; granddaughter, Hollie Hogie; siblings, Irma (Lloyd) Davis, and Ardelle (Merle) Benschoter as well as nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Birchwood Cottages for their wonderful care.
