Michael David Burt

Michael “Mike” Burt, age 52, of Mankato, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

Mike was born December 16, 1967 in Mankato to David and Mary Burt.  He graduated from Mankato East High School in 1986 and Winona VoTech. He developed many friendships along the way through his work career in supervisory positions at Cabela’s, Gander Mountain, and Mico (Wabco).

Mike was a great father and family man with many hobbies, including competitive archery, which he enjoyed doing with Alex and Adam.  He was also a winning competitive meat smoker; however, as most of his family and friends know, Mike’s passion was hunting and fishing.  Mike’s outdoorsmanship was extraordinary, and it proved to be a cherished shared common bond he had with his father David, daughter Alex, and son Adam.

Michael is survived by his two children, Alexandra Burt and Adam Burt of Mankato; step-daughter, Amber Johnson of Mountain Gate, CA; mother, Mary Burt of Mankato; sister, Melody Burt of Mankato; granddaughter, Remi Rose of Mankato; step-granddaughters Aubrey Burt and Raschell Johnson of Mountain Gate, CA; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, David Burt; grandparents, Gilbert and Margaret Burt and Herbert and Olivia Melchior.

Adam recently wrote the following note to his dad… “I just wanna hear one more ‘good night buddy’ so I can say ‘good night dad’…I wish we could have had one last hunt together and hear you wail on the goose call one last time and watch the sunrise over the trees while we talk about all the stories with grandpa….”

Due to the current circumstances, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.  Please share your favorite memory of Mike with his family at www.mankatomortuary.com.
