Myla Jeanne Salfer, age 78, of Eagle Lake, MN, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025.
Myla was born on December 14, 1946 in Mankato, MN, she was the daughter of Wilmar & Muriel Auringer.
She graduated from Mankato High School in Mankato, Minnesota, then went on to graduate from Minnesota Bible College and also earned her degree in Elementary Education from Mankato State University, reflecting her love of learning.
Myla married Richard C. Salfer on September 5, 1970 in Eagle Lake, MN and together they built a home filled with faith, family, kindness, and laughter. Myla was a devoted wife, a dedicated mother to Michael, Matthew, and Kendra, and a loving sister, aunt, and friend to many. She was very strong in her Christian faith, and she lived it out through her kindness, her love, and her gentle, caring spirit. She was deeply active in her church community-teaching Sunday School, Bible Bowl, and Vacation Bible School; leading songs during worship; faithfully attending Bible study; serving with the Dorcas ladies group; and participating in countless church events. She especially loved singing old hymns, which brought her great comfort and joy throughout her life.
She dedicated her early years to being a stay-at-home mother and working as a substitute teacher. She went on to work at Sears and eventually at the Traverse des Sioux Library System, where she made many treasured friendships before retiring. She continued to enjoy lunches with her Sears friends and gatherings with her TDS friends long after her retirement.
Myla loved gardening, watching birds, and tending to her flowers. She cherished attending her grandchildren's sporting events and school activities-you could always count on her to be in the stands, supporting and cheering with pride. She was treasured dearly by her children and grandchildren, who adored her gentle encouragement and unwavering love.
Her home was the house everyone gathered at because she made you feel loved, welcomed, and safe. She had a special place in her heart for the neighborhood kids and was loved by many of them; her door was always open, and her warmth made it a place everyone wanted to be.
She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Richard C. Salfer; her parents, Wilmar & Muriel Auringer; grandparents, Ernest and Lila Auringer and Edward and Minnie Hoffman; her siblings, Wilmar "Corky" Auringer and Lonnie Trio; her mother & father-in-law, James & Eleanor Salfer; brothers-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" Salfer, Thomas Salfer, and Glenn Cyphers; nephew, Thomas Auringer; and other cherished family members who preceded her in death.
