Born on February 25, 1938, in Chicago, IL, to Chris and Ada Christian, Nina was baptized at Kedzie Avenue Methodist Church and grew up with a deep faith that guided her life.
Nina graduated from Kelvyn High School in 1955 and earned her degree from St. Olaf College in 1959. On August 23, 1958, she married Denny Runck at St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield, MN. Nina was an avid golfer, a longtime member of the Mankato Golf Club, and a world traveler who embraced adventure. She expressed her creativity through painting, taking art classes into her 80s. Her commitment to community shone through her volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, the Mankato Symphony, and her children's schools. A devoted member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato and Faith Lutheran Church in Naples, Nina's faith was the cornerstone of her life.
Her children deeply love and bless her, so does her husband. He praises her with these words: There are many fine women in the world, but you surpassed them all. Proverbs 31:28-29
