Norma L. Nelson

Norma LaRue Nelson, age 90, of Lake Crystal and formerly of Madelia, died Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Crystal Seasons in Lake Crystal.

Memorial Service 1:30 p.m., July 22, 2022 at Salem Lutheran Church, Madelia. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Interment will be in Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, MN. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. www.mankatomortuary.com

Norma LaRue was born in rural Grandin, ND, the daughter of Anton F. and Estella (Biel) Nelson. She was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Grandin, ND on September 6, 1931. She attended rural school in District 66 in North Dakota and finished grade school at Zion Lutheran School in Alexandria, MN. Norma attended Alexandria High School, graduating in 1950.

Norma married Harold Stanz in 1950, but the union dissolved in 1979, both went their own way.

Later in life she reentered school to obtain a 2 year Associate of Arts Degree in Home Nursing and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Degree. She lived in Blue Earth, MN and worked at the nursing home. Soon she opened her own home care business which she enjoyed very much. She moved back to Alexandria on retirement and resided at Bethal Manor and Winona Shores for many years. She relocated to Madelia in 2015.

Norma is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; two sisters; two nephews.
