Paul Alan Marquardt

Paul Marquardt, age 67, of Eagle Lake, MN, passed away at his home on February 15, 2025. He was born on March 6, 1957, in Albert Lea to Delmar and Athlyn (Grunniwaldt) Marquardt.

Paul was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. After graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1975 and he went on to serve over two years in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he attended Red Wing Vocational school where he met his wife, Julie Basta. They were married November 7th,1980 in Atwater, CA. After returning to Minnesota, he began is plumbing career eventually becoming a Master Union Plumber working at various plumbing shops in the area. Moving on to become a Union Representative for the MN Pipe Trades retiring in 2013.

In addition to his career, Paul and his wife, Julie, were proud owners of Marquardt Labs, where they raised and sold Labrador Retrievers for 35 years. 

Outside of work, Paul had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting deer, bear, and turkey, as well as fishing—especially ice fishing in the winter. In his retirement, Paul cherished summers spent fishing at his retreat in Wisconsin and looked forward to his annual fishing trips to Canada in July.

Paul is survived by his wife of 45 years, Julie, and his sister Kay (Duane) Luinstra of Rochester, MN. He is also survived by his nieces, Michelle Marquardt and Kendra Mork, and nephew, Robert (Jess) Luinstra, his beloved little dog Zoey, along with many other great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and relatives who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents Delmar and Athlyn and his sister, Patricia Henry.
