Philip Lee Patterson passed away peacefully with his wife Nancy by his side at the age of 70 on Tuesday February 10th, 2026 in Mankato, Minnesota.
Phil was born on July 26th, 1955 to Phyllis and Ned Patterson in Webster City, Iowa. The youngest of three children, he grew up alongside his sister, Linda Schrader, and his brother, Mike Patterson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Phil graduated high school from Mankato High School. Shortly after graduation, Phil married Leslie Fields and they welcomed three children: Lisa (Gothan) Krocak, Joleene (Mark) Patterson, and Daniel (Sheyna) Patterson. Later in life, Phil was remarried to Nancy (Regan) Patterson and they adopted their niece, Kayte (Ben) Wunderlich.
Phil enjoyed a long and successful career at Dotson Iron Castings for many decades.
Phil’s love for life was infectious. Phil was drawn to warm destinations where a swim-up bar and a well-salted margarita awaited. During the summer months, Phil loved spending weekends at the cabin with his wife Nancy. Their beagles also held a special place in his heart. When not traveling, Phil loved cooking, golfing, watching football, singing karaoke, and having a good cry over the latest Hallmark movie.
Phil loved in his own way and those closest to him felt it deeply. In the relationships he held most dear, his tenderness showed–protective, devoted, and sincere–especially in the way he wrapped you in one of his long hugs.
Phil treasured his role of grandfather and lovingly thought of his grandchildren often: Kaia and Logan Krocak, Noah Fields, Leah and Anna Bowe, Scarlet, Drew, and Lyle Patterson, and Carter and Delaney Wunderlich.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 16th at 9:30 AM at Christ the King Lutheran Church, followed by a Celebration of Life to be held at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will be provided after the service. Internment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Phil would love your memorials sent to Underdog Rescue.
