Quentin LeRoy Beadell

Quentin LeRoy Beadell, age 93, of Mankato passed away on August 5, 2026 with family by his side after a short battle with cancer. Family was at the center of everything Quentin did and achieved.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., on Monday, August 10, 2026 at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary. Private family burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Schola foundation, St John’s Catholic Church or Moments Hospice.

Quentin LeRoy Beadell was born in a log cabin on December 31, 1932 in Cook, MN to Harry and Ione (Nerem) Beadell. He was raised in Cook, Minnesota during the Great Depression and lived in a log cabin with dirt floors and no well until he was 7 and his family moved to Mankato. He worked a variety of part-time jobs in high school, doing everything from newspaper delivery to roofing to shocking wheat and helping his father till by hand.

Quentin graduated from Mankato High School in 1950 and enlisted in the Navy for four years. He spent the majority of his time on the USS Chukawan AO. They joked the AO stood for "Always Out," and did two tours of the Mediterranean. When he was honorably discharged on October 24, 1955, he was a Radioman Second Class.

Once back in Mankato, Quentin married his bride, Carolyn Leonard. They were married on June 29, 1955 at Saints Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church. He also found his way to banking, beginning as a bookkeeper in 1956 at American State Bank, and began to work his way up.

He then moved to Farmer's State Bank of Rapidan which became Security State Bank of Mankato. During this period, he earned his insurance license and did bookkeeping on the side to supplement his income, while attending school at Mankato State on evenings and weekends.

He eventually purchased Vernon Center State Bank to open Community Bank of Vernon Center in 1974. He worked at the bank alongside many family members, including many employees who became as dear as family.

Today, Community Bank has five branches in Mankato, Eagle Lake, Vernon Center, and Amboy and has been in business for 50 years. It has helped launch numerous local businesses and supports the community through sponsorships and events. Quentin never retired and was Chairman of the Board until his passing.

Quentin served on the Independent Bank Council Board for 6 years. He also served on the Blue Earth Fair Grounds board as Treasurer and participated in the South Bend Township Board for 6 years.

In his free time, Quentin loved to golf and spend time with his siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. You could often find him with his wife, Carolyn, and friends at Charley's or the Wine Cafe on a Friday night. He loved to relax outdoors and could also be found watering flowers and feeding birds at his gazebo in the country, or, before that, at his lake cabin on Lake Washington. Quentin and Carolyn spent time every year at their condo in Marco Island, Florida. He loved visiting with friends and relatives. Quentin was a member of Saint John the Baptist church.

Quentin is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Cheryl (Jon) Kietzer; grandchildren, Stephanie (Justin) Briggs, Robert (Katie) Beadell, Tyler (Augustine) Kietzer, Courtney Kietzer, Sam (Allison) Kietzer; great-grandchildren, Jack Beadell, Blake Beadell, Emmett Briggs, Analiah Kietzer, and Caliope Kietzer; sisters-in-law, Lynn Beadell, Deb Beadell, Sue Beadell; extended family, Kay (Tom) Scholtz; many nieces and nephews, and very good friend, Tony Sadaka.

Quentin was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ione Beadell; and his beloved son, Mark, who passed away in June 2019; brothers, Harry Jr., Robert, Gene, and Donald Beadell; sisters, Beverly Wilson and Colleen Yaeger; in-laws, Harry and Caroline Leonard; brothers in-law, Eugene Leonard and Clifford Yaeger; niece, Peggy Jo Leonard, and nephews, Scott Beadell and Keith Beadell.

His family will cherish and carry on his legacy and the lessons he instilled in us: to savor our wins, to give generously and quietly, to always work hard, to always say yes to grabbing a bite with a good friend, and to never forget that family is why we’re here.
