Richard Joseph Corcoran, known to many as Dick, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, in Mankato, Minnesota, at the age of 87.
Born on April 21, 1938, in Minneapolis, MN, Dick was the son of Edith June and Paul George Corcoran. He was raised in Mankato alongside his older brother Dan and younger brother John. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1956 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from June 5, 1957, to December 17, 1958.
After his military service, Dick returned home and pursued higher education at Mankato State University, graduating in 1962. He later earned his law degree in 1970 and began a long and respected legal career with Blethen, Gage, and Krause law firm, where he worked as an attorney for over 40 years.
On June 20, 1964, Dick married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Pike. Together they built a beautiful life in Mankato and raised two children, Paul and Robyn.
Dick lived life to the fullest and had a passion for the outdoors and sports. He enjoyed golf, racquetball, curling, hunting, fishing, and playing cards with countless hours of Gin and cribbage. He treasured time up north at the cabin and on the water at Buck’s and Gull Lake boating, waterskiing, tubing, and spending time with family. Family skiing trips to Colorado, travels to Laughlin, Nevada, and Friday visits to Jackpot Junction were favorite adventures. As a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, Dick was rarely seen without a Vikings sweatshirt. He also had a deep love for reading, reading books at an impressive pace.
Above all, Dick cherished his family. Once he became a grandfather, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren: Cameron, Colton, Paige, Megan and Matthew.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley; children, Paul (Ruth) and Robyn (Stephen); brothers, Dan (Mickey) and John; grandchildren, Cameron, Colton, Paige, Megan and Matthew.
