Richard "Dick" Allen Roll

Richard “Dick” Allen Roll, 91, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, friendships and more than a little mischief.

Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m., on Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Lake Crystal Mortuary, with military honors taking place at 2:30 p.m., outside the mortuary. Private family burial will be in the Lake Crystal Cemetery.

A proud veteran, Dick lived life with a fun, feisty spirit and a genuine zest for adventure. He had a gift for finding fun wherever he went. He loved nothing more than being surrounded by good friends, sharing a laugh, telling a story and making memories.

He could often be found snowmobiling with friends, searching for antique toys, or simply taking a drive down a country road with no particular destination in mind. And if his son, Mike had a construction project happening nearby, you could be sure Dick had an important role to play: car supervisor. He was perfectly happy to sit in his car from afar, keeping a watchful eye on the work and, of course, offering his expert opinions.

Cars were more than just a career for Dick-they were a passion. As a longtime car salesman, he loved showcasing the newest models, talking about their features and sharing his enthusiasm with anyone who would listen. He was a big fan of race cars, and enjoyed watching Nascar.

But perhaps his greatest love was people. He cherished his friends and family, and his laughter, quick wit and feisty personality made him unforgettable. He had a way of making ordinary days feel like an adventure and turning a simple drive, a cup of coffee or an afternoon with friends into a story worth telling.

At 91, he had earned every right to slow down-but that was never really his style. He stayed curious, stayed involved and stayed ready for the next adventure.

He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, friendship, service and countless stories that will be told for years to come. Though he may no longer be behind the wheel, supervising a construction site, searching for a hidden antique toy or heading out on the snowmobile, his spirit of adventure will live on in all who knew and loved him.

Dick is survived by his wife of 69 years, LaVonne; children, Mike (Darcy), and Jeff (Nicole); grandchildren, Kylie, Alicia (Jeff) Johnson, Liz, and Jaxson; great-granddaughter, Ivy Sue; brother, Stan (Delores), as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elma Roll; brothers, Ken, and Lawrence, and sister, JoAnn.
