Good Thunder

Robert “Curt” Hanson, age 75, of Good Thunder, died on April 22, 2026 at MCHS, Mankato.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Chapel (329 Ellis Ave., Mankato). Visitation will be at Mankato Mortuary (1001 N. Riverfront Dr.) on May 1 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and will continue one hour prior at the church. Burial will be at Barnard Valley View Cemetery, Good Thunder.

Curt was born on April 22, 1951 in Mankato to Robert S. and Cleo (Offerman) Hanson. He graduated from Rapidan High School in 1969. On November 1, 1969, Curt was united in marriage to Kathleen Birr at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Good Thunder. He worked for Kato Engineering for 42 years, retiring in 2012. Curt was a volunteer firefighter for 20 years with the Good Thunder Fire Department. He was very involved with Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. Curt enjoyed hunting, fishing, and family vacations to Voyageurs National Park, Evergreen Lodge, and the Cass Lake Area.

Curt is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Jon (Sherri) Hanson; son-in-law, Sander Nassan; grandchildren, Annalise (Dan) Rigdon, Taylor Hanson (Chris Butler), Bob Hanson, Rosanna Hanson, and Ariana Heide (Brian Freerking); great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Vivian, and Lennon Rigdon and Dahlia and Rustic Heide; and sister, Carol Hanson; and many other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; daughter, Lana Nassan; brother, Alan; and sister, LeAnne.
