Robert "Bob" Francis Sorenson

Robert “Bob” Francis Sorenson, age 81, of Lake Crystal passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023, at his home, with his wife, Diane and daughter, Cara Lee by his side. Lunch will be served at the American Legion Post 294, Lake Crystal at noon, on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the Lake Crystal Mortuary with visitation one hour prior. www.mankatomortuary.com

Robert was born to Marius and Ruth (Kramer) Sorenson on February 1, 1941, at the Madelia Hospital in Watonwan County, Minnesota.

He graduated in 1960 from Lake Crystal High School. Shortly after he joined the Army. He earned a good conduct medal for a sharpshooter (rifle M-14). He was discharged in August 1965. Bob worked for the Fred Lantz family for 43 years.

On April 9, 1966, he started dating Diane Krueger. Robert met Diane while he was in the service. On September 25, 1966 they were married.

Robert joined the Lake Crystal Legion Post 294 in the early 70s. He served many posts, commander, gambling manager, took over as sergeant at arms when they needed him, called bingo, and occasionally helped sell the cards. He loved calling bingo. Bob was still a member of the Legion when he passed away.

Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane Sorenson; children, Cara (Bryan Denzel) Sorenson; grandchildren, Hunter Palmer, and Samantha Denzel; siblings, Betty Bulow, Joe (Marge) Sorenson, Barb (Glen) Foster; half-sister, Phylis Nelson-Hennis; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Marius and Ruth Sorenson; children, Roberta Sorenson, and baby boy Sorenson; siblings, Judy Sorenson, Virginia Sorenson, Gladys Sorenson, Art Sorenson, Earl Sorenson and Bonita (Larry) Krueger; brother-in-law, Palmer Bulow; half-sister, Mary (Roger) Stanley.
