Rodney G. Dahms, age 74, of Rapidan, died on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center, Mankato after a short battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Private service will be held for the family.
Rodney was born on December 23, 1948 in Mankato to Larry and Lorraine (Holtz) Dahms. He graduated from Rapidan High School. Rodney served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971 and was stationed in Corpus Cristi, TX. He married Maggie and they had two children, Troy and Tommy, and they later divorced. Rodney started a longtime career in the trucking industry. He met his second wife, Gayle and her son Eric, and they had a daughter, Tammi, and Gayle preceded him in death in 1997. He was a proud owner of Rodney’s Town Pump in Madison Lake. Rodney reconnected with Sandy Jordan and they have been together for 25 years. Rodney was a member of the Kato Cycle Club and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed retirement and spending winters in Arizona with Sandy. He loved ice cream, chocolate, bird watching, and was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his significant other, Sandy Jordan of Rapidan; children, Troy (Sara) Dahms of Mankato, Tommy (Jodi) Dahms of Lake Crystal, Eric (Joni) Sandwick of Truman, and Tammi (Jason) Attenberger of Waseca; sister in law, Sandy Dahms of Mankato; 13 grandchildren, Savanna Dahms, Jaden Dahms, Logan (Blake) Arndt, Cole Dahms, Tom Sandwick, Coralie Sandwick, Jordan Smith, Parker Sandwick, Ricklin Sandwick, Brett Attenberger, Brianna Attenberger, Abbygayle Attenberger, and Reagann Attenberger; and 3 great grandchildren, Gentry, Oswell, and Izabelle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gayle; and siblings, Ray, Randy and Debra.
