Roger Gene Dahl passed away on April 28 at the age of 84 in Mankato, MN. Roger was born on August 23, 1941 to Norvin and Alice Dahl in La Crosse, WI. His parents moved to St. Paul, MN in 1943 where they raised Roger and his 12 siblings.

Roger graduated from Murray High School in St. Paul in 1959. He attended every high school reunion and maintained friendships with several classmates up to the present. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. He was then employed as a casualty insurance adjuster for Crawford & Company for 19 years and subsequently established North Central Adjusters in Duluth, MN on March 1, 1985, fulfilling his longheld desire to own and operate his own business. Roger had a passion for his work. He loved to investigate serious accidents, airplane crashes, fire and arson claims. He earned an excellent reputation for his knowledge and fairness. On July 14, 1990, Roger married Eleanor (EJ) Anderson-Lewis. Together, they designed and oversaw the construction of EJ’s dream home at Island Lake, north of Duluth. In 1998, he sold his business and retired. Roger loved sailing Lake Superior, deer hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed an interest in classic cars and owned a few over the years. Roger’s true passion was buying, refurbishing, and selling antiques with his wife, EJ. They owned an antique business for 30 years, retiring this year. Roger considered himself to be the world’s best recycler saving old treasures from the landfill.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, mother, 9 of his siblings, and his beloved golden retriever, Sadie II.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (EJ) Anderson-Dahl; son, Christopher Dahl (Corrina Yabeny) and grandson, Michael Dahl; son, Eric Dahl (AnnMarie) and granddaughter, Madalynn; step-son, Dylan Lewis (Katie) and step-grandson, Finn; step-daughter, Alyson Malchow (Brandon) and step-granddaughters, Elliot and Isla; brothers, Lyle Dahl and Ronald Dahl; sisters, Pauline Bear and Sharon Niemczyk; several nieces and nephews and former wife, Sylvia Dahl Lehman (Leroy).

A private celebration of life will be held by the family at Mankato Mortuary on May 9.
