Roger Alan Dirksen, age 75, of Mankato passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary.
Roger was born in Fairmont. He grew up on a farm and graduated from Trimont High School. He was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church. Roger liked roller skating and drove a bus to several towns to pick up kids to go skating at the rinks in Trimont and Madelia at different times. He also drove a bus to the fields for kids to detassel corn. While working at Tony Downs he met his wife, Ann. They were married June 12, 1971.
Roger was on the board of directors of the St James Gun Club for many years. He and his wife road motorcycles and belonged to GWRRA (Gold Wing Road Riders Association) as co‑educators and camped with the camper pulled by Roger’s Gold Wing. He belonged to A.B.A.T.E. (American Bikers Awareness and Education). Roger also belonged to E.C.I.N. (Emergency Communication and Information Network) where he was a weather spotter during tornados. He worked at Westins Automotive until he retired in 2008. He enjoyed talking about car engines and watching car rebuilding shows on tv.
Roger is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann; children, Jennifer (Brian) Hintgen, and William Anthony “Tony”; grandchildren, Amanda Hintgen, Isaac Hintgen, Ellie Hintgen, Maranda Holcolm, Benjamin Dirksen, and Cameron Palmquist; daughter-in-law, Aimee Dirksen; sisters, Jeanne Schuett, and Ramona (Roger) Engelking, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his son, Richard; parents, Reno and YaVonne; niece, Rhonda Engelking; brothers-in-law, Thomas Windhorn, and Gregory Windhorn.
