Rolf Edward Storvick, age 72, of Mankato, MN, died at his home on May 3, 2026.
The son of Olin Storvick and Ruth (Struxness) Storvick, Rolf was born on August 1, 1953, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As a child, Rolf lived in Ann Arbor, Athens, Moorhead and Cincinnati. He was the second of five children. He graduated from Moorhead High school in 1971. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where he played the clarinet in the Concordia band all four years and it is in the band where he also met his future wife Karen (Lund). Shortly after Rolf’s graduation, he and Karen were married on June 21, 1975, in Mohall, North Dakota. Rolf went on to attend University of Minnesota Medical School graduating in 1979. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Gundersen Clinic in LaCrosse WI and accepted a fellowship in Nephrology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. In 1984, he and Karen settled in Mankato. Dr. Storvick joined the Mankato Clinic and spent 34 years building the nephrology (kidney care) services from the ground up, serving dual roles in primary and specialty care. In addition to being a physician, he also served as the Mankato Clinic President, retiring from practicing medicine in 2018.
Throughout their years here in Mankato, he and Karen were actively involved at Christ the King Lutheran Church. They were also wonderful supporters of their children, Kris and Hans’ activities, including the Mankato West Boosters Club, Gustavus Football Goal Line Club, and University of Minnesota Track and Field Boosters. Rolf thoroughly enjoyed attending all of his kids sporting events and was always a willing pitcher, rebounder, or tennis partner when his kids needed one. He also found serenity at his home away from home, the family lake cabin on Pelican Lake in northern Minnesota. Whether it was helping kids get up on water skis, making gasoline runs for the jet ski, tending to the hot tub with the grandkids, or just reading his book on the deck, he loved spending time up at the lake. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
Rolf was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth, father, Olin, his wife Karen, and son Kris.
He is survived by son Hans (Amy); daughter-in-law Gemma, sisters Helen Saude (Dave), Karen Markert (James), Solveig Pollei (Steve), and brother Eric (Di); and beloved grandchildren, Theron (14), Annika (11), Sloane (8), Kaleb (8), Ian (6) and Griffin (3).
