Sally "Sal" Marie Blais

Sally “Sal” Marie Blais, age 74, of Madison Lake passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Marysburg, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Marysburg Catholic Cemetery. Mankato Mortuary is overseeing arrangements. Livestream of the service will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com.

Sally “Sal” Marie (Swanson) Blais was born April 19, 1951, to Donald and Doris (Hubin) Swanson in Mankato, Minnesota. She was a 1969 graduate of Mankato High School where she swam on the Dolphins synchronized swimming team. She attended Johnson Beauty Academy in Mankato, Minnesota. She was employed at ADC Telecommunications in St. Peter, Minnesota where she met her love, Steven. On July 29, 1972 she was united in marriage to Steven J. Blais at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Marysburg by Steven’s uncle Father Melvin Blais. They recently celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary.

Sal enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren. Some of her hobbies included swimming, fishing, cooking, and going on long car rides with Steven in their classic 1956 Chevy Belaire.

Sal is survived by her husband of 53 years, Steven; children, Travis (Melissa), Brandie (Corey) Whitcomb, and Chris (Gretchen); daughter, Michelle (Philippe) Hamze; grandchildren, Abbi (Brady) Kisthart, Mason, Lydia, Safron, Oliver, and August; daughters children Samuel (Riley), Arianna, and Noel Hamze; siblings, Harriet Wolff, Lois Vik, and Dennis Swanson; brother-in-law, R. Mark (Lou Ann) Blais, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Sal was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Doris (Hubin) Swanson; brother, Samuel Swanson; parents-in-law, Merlin and Arabella Blais, and sister-in-law, Anita Blais.
