Sandy (Olinger) Swanson

Sandy Swanson, age 73, of North Mankato, died on June 8, 2025 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living from the horrible disease of dementia.

Memorial Service will be held on July 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Northview. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Children’s Cancer Connection or the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester.

Sandy was born on October 10, 1951 in Mankato to Jack and Phyllis (Tyson) Olinger. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1970. In September 1971, Sandy was united in marriage to Mike Sampson and they were later divorced. In May 1992, Sandy married Dennis Swanson. Sandy worked for Trustworthy Hardware in Le Sueur for many years. She also worked several years at the Work Force Center. Sandy served on the city council in South Haven, MN. She enjoyed cross stitch, quilting, macrame, and calligraphy. She also enjoyed fishing and camping.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Sammi Olinger; son, Brian (Holly) Sampson; husband, Dennis Swanson; grandchildren, Gunnar (Hannah), Makenna (Lucas) Overend, Alex, Cole, Michael, and Bella; great-grandson, Lennox and soon to be great-granddaughter, Rori; siblings, Kris (Bill) Sampson, Dave (Christie) Olinger, Mary (Dwayne) Pipping, Bill (Amy Brandel) Olinger, Dan (Barb) Olinger, Joe (Amy) Olinger, Randy (Cara) Olinger, and Fred Olinger; step-children, Theresa (Adam) Aberley, Amy (Matt) East, and Daniel (Fiona) Swanson; 11 step-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Phyllis Olinger and two great-granddaughters, Loretta Beverly and Lenora Mary Overend.
