Sara Louise (Aye) Froehlich

Sara Louise (Aye) Froehlich, 72, of Good Thunder, MN, passed away on October 26, 2026, in Mapleton, surrounded by family.

Sara was born on February 17, 1954, in Emporia, Kansas, to Delbert and Billie (Hudson) Aye. She grew up in the Kansas City area, later moving to Tonganoxie. She and Tom met in Kansas City, where he was attending school at the time. The two married in 1974 and soon moved to Minnesota, where they built their life and raised their four children. Sara was an active presence in her children's lives, volunteering at their school when they were young and supporting all their activities. When her children were young, Sara enjoyed teaching the preschool Sunday School class at St. John’s Lutheran Church and School in Good Thunder, MN. She helped build the library at the school and wanted to instill a love of reading in the children.

After marrying Tom at the age of 21, Sara devoted much of her life to her family, whom she loved fiercely. She expressed that love in countless ways, both big and small, from knitting a blanket for every new baby in the family to making sure each of the grandchildren had a new hand-knit sweater every Christmas. All of the grandchildren spent countless hours with Grandma, and she relished every moment.

Sara loved gadgets and was quick to embrace the latest technology. That enthusiasm led her to teach photo editing and graphic design classes for several years and eventually to her writing and publishing a book on Microsoft’s Expression Design software in 2008.

Sara also greatly enjoyed Disney World, and she and Tom spent many happy vacations there, with kids and grandkids joining their trips across the years. Whether caring for her family or pursuing a new passion, she gave herself fully to the things she loved.

Sara is survived by her husband of 52 years, Tom, and their four children, Lindsay (Michael) Comini, Ben (Annie) Froehlich, Bethany (Joe) Chadwick, and Mitchell (Jodi) Froehlich. She was the proud grandmother of Jake Froehlich, Dante Froehlich, Thomas Comini, Jayden Froehlich, and Madalyn Froehlich, and the beloved great-grandmother of Zoe and Elliot Froehlich. She was also greatly anticipating the birth of a third great-granddaughter, Audrie Froehlich. She is also survived by her siblings, Melody (Carlos) Loya, Mark (Susan) Aye, and Jim Aye, and many nieces and nephews. Sara was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Jeremy.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 13, 2026, with visitation beginning one hour prior at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, MN. Interment will follow at Barnard Valley View Cemetery. A celebration of Sara’s life will be held at The Thunder Restaurant in Good Thunder immediately following interment.
