Scott Anthony Moncelle

Scott Anthony Moncelle, age 64, of Elysian, MN, passed away on August 3, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Scott from 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 29th, 2026, at Spring Lake Park. Pavilion 5, 650 Webster Ave, North Mankato, MN 56003.

Scott was born on June 27th, 1962, in Mankato, MN, to Wallace and Mary Moncelle. Scott grew up in the Mankato area with his siblings. While growing up with his family, they often enjoyed camping together. He would meet up with his siblings every year at Rox’s house up north. Up there, they would play card games, catch up, share old stories, and lots of laughs.

Scott married Mary on March 20th, 1998. They had a great group of friends that they would spend time with. They also enjoyed spending their time together at the cabin. They became parents to their two children in 1999 and 2003. They shared a love for dogs and enjoyed having them as part of the family. They both shared a love for wolves; you could often find Scott wearing one of his favorite wolf shirts.

He graduated from Mankato West High School and earned several certificates he used during his time as a maintenance man. He was a maintenance man for Dakota County, helping solve and fix many issues. While he was retired, Scott always had a love and passion for helping people fix things. He was always there to give a helping hand when he could. He especially enjoyed helping in the lake association for his neighborhood.

While he primarily lived in the Mankato area, he also moved around to other areas. He also lived in Lakeville, where he and Mary raised their children. He spent the last portion of his life living at his beloved cabin in Elysian.

If there was one thing Scott loved doing, it was fixing things. He would often be working on some kind of project or have plans to. He also liked to tinker with items and try to invent new things. Liking to fix things and helping others went hand in hand for Scott; if he could help fix something, he would, no matter the job. He also liked RC cars, boats, and drones; he would even participate in RC car demolition derbies. Scott enjoyed planning his summer time schedule around whatever local town fairs were going on, especially if they involved some kind of car show or derby. While Scott didn’t have a favorite sports team, he still enjoyed watching all kinds of sports. He loved to spend his time playing arcade games, especially at Wow! Zone in Mankato, which he frequented. Scott’s cabin was his happy place; he took pride in his home. He spent his time there in the pool, on his boats, and on the four-wheeler. Scott loved the outdoors, from fishing and hunting with his friends and family to protecting turtle eggs each year until they hatched. He especially enjoyed spending time at the lake with his family.

Scott Moncelle was many things: a husband, a father, a brother, an uncle, a friend. But above all, he was a kind and gentle soul, with the biggest heart. He was funny; he loved to crack a joke. His face would light up, and he'd get a little grin. He lit up a room more than he ever knew. Always there for everyone, in any way he could be. Always offering what he could. He was giving and generous. He was selfless; he was there when you needed him. Overall, he was just a kind and good man. His children are a testament to how wonderful a person he was. He loved them more than anything.

Scott is survived by his children, Amanda (Michael Brown) and Tony (Emma Swan); siblings, Steve (Kathy), Marilyn (Paul) Dorland, Rox (Todd) Thompson, and Kristine (AJ) Anderson; step-siblings, Linda Seykora, Paul Seykora, and Ronnie Seykora; as well as nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents, Wallace and Mary Moncelle; his stepmother, JoAnne Moncelle; and his stepbrother, Kevin Seykora.

The family is asking for no flowers, cards, or gifts during this time. Your presence at the celebration of life and kind words are enough.
