Scott Arthur Oachs, 68, of Mankato, passed away quietly at home on August 11, 2025 surrounded by family, after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.
Scott entered this world on February 7, 1957, in Mankato, MN, to Marlene (Brossard) and Dennis Oachs. He was raised in Eagle Lake, MN. He spent his youth surrounded by his brothers, Alan, Todd, and Tim and many beloved cousins.
He graduated from Mankato East High School in 1975. Soon after, he married his high school girlfriend, Vicki Perrizo. They later divorced. Together they had two children, Chad Arthur and Angela Marie Emma, who meant everything to him.
Throughout his life, Scott worked for a handful of employers, including the Kit Kat Restaurant, Les Hewitt Machine Shop, MICO, and Pathstone.
Alongside his career, Scott enjoyed a wide range of hobbies. He discovered a deep passion for cars and became a skilled mechanic, spending countless hours repairing vehicles, especially the GM3800. Scott was also an avid bowler for more than 40 years, participating in local leagues and enjoying the camaraderie they brought. In 2023, he achieved a milestone every bowler dreams of, rolling a perfect 300 game. When Scott wasn’t working on a car or bowling, he could often be found enjoying the outdoors. From a young age, Scott developed a love for hunting and fishing, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. Whether he was chasing walleyes on Lake of the Woods, fishing for halibut in Alaska, catching panfish on local lakes, or hunting big game and birds, Scott truly enjoyed every opportunity to be outside doing what he loved.
In 1998, Scott’s daughter Angela introduced him to Tammy Maas (Ceminsky). The two were married on March 5, 2010, and together they built a retirement filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They enjoyed time at the cabin and on the pontoon, attending motorcycle rallies on his Goldwing, cruising the Caribbean and, most importantly, time with their grandchildren. Being “Papa Scott” was one of his greatest joys.
Scott will be remembered as an honest, kindhearted man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He had a way of making people feel welcomed. Scott got along with just about anyone; his genuine nature built friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Tamarra (Tammy); children Chad Oachs and Angela (Timothy) Meyer; stepchildren Jason (Jennifer) Ceminsky, Robert (Danielle) Ceminsky, and Mary (Jay) Berg; grandchildren Corban and Ajay Oachs, Madison (Evan Zhou), Olivia, Jada, Jonny, and Jesse Ceminsky, and Brooklyn and Blake Berg; brother and best friend Alan (Rosy) Oachs; sister-in-law Sherry Oachs; in-laws Steve (Teresa) Maas, Emma (Doug) Voit, Mike (Shelly) Maas; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Among those friends were “The Weasels”: Jiki Latrick, Randy Oachs, and Terry Mahlman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlene and Dennis Oachs, brothers Todd and Tim Oachs, and in-laws Robert and Betty Maas.
