Sharon Kay Freitag

Sharon Kay Freitag, 77, of rural Nicollet (New Sweden) passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Norseland Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church as well.

Sharon was born in Mankato, MN on March 21, 1944.  She graduated from Rapidan High school and met her husband, Sonny while attending a dance at the Mankato Ballroom.  They later wed on November 3, 1962.  Sharon enjoyed cooking, baking, and playing cards.  She sewed quilts and tied many blankets.  One of her greatest pleasures was spending winters in Arizona for over 25 years.  Sharon always had skittles on hand for her grandchildren and has been referred to as the “skittle Grandma”.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 59 years, Sonny; children, Bill, Betty (Justin) Alders, Becky (Mike) Masessa; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Pat (Harlan) Bergemann, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Luverne “Jack” Friedrichs, and Donald Friedrichs.
