Shirley Ann Romberg

Shirley Romberg, age 93 of Mankato passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Mankato Lodge Senior Living.

Shirley Romberg was born April 15, 1930 to Ted and Alice Forster in New Ulm.  She graduated from Cathedral High School and attended Mankato Business School.   Shirley then worked at Mankato Mills.   After her marriage to Aaron Romberg on March 14, 1951 at Camp Rucker, Alabama, she worked at Mankato Corporation and the Feed Service Company, Inc. and Northwest Agri-Dealers Association as a secretary and group health insurance administrator for 24 years. Upon retirement she became a home health aide for Nicollet County.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for over seventy years. She loved family gatherings, decorating themed Christmas trees, flower gardening, golfing, family camping trips and the MN Vikings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron, and her brother Willard Forster.

Shirley is survived by her children-Paul (Mary) Romberg, Ann (Doug) Williams and John (Tammy) Romberg. She is also survived by her sister Carmen Ulmen, her sister-in-law Audrey Romberg and her special friend Gordy Schultz.

She leaves behind her grandchildren Ben Romberg and Jennie Lewin, Ted, Tracy and Tara Williams and Bret Romberg.

A special thank you to the staff and residents of Mankato Lodge for your loving and compassionate care.  We also want to thank sisters, Terri and Lissa, for helping Shirley many times at Garfield Place in No. Mankato.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 at11:00 am at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN Visitation one hour prior to the service.
