Siebert “Silver” Gottlieb Steck, 91, of North Mankato, died in the loving arms of his wife of 70 years, Joan, January 14, 2022 at the Mankato Lodge in Mankato.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 17, 2022 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Mankato with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family. Livestreaming will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com.

Siebert was born March 19, 1930 to Konke and Evelyn (Kain) Steck in rural Minnesota Lake. He graduated from Pemberton High School in 1948.  In 1951, he married Joan Oestreich in Mankato. Siebert served in the US Air Force as a mechanic working on B29 planes. He was honorably discharged in 1955.

Siebert worked within five decades as a commercial refrigeration technician for Meyer & Sons in Mankato, retiring in 1992.  

Siebert had a great sense of humor and was known to be able to fix anything. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, boating, keeping up his home and yard, and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.  

Siebert is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joan; children, LeAnne (Dan) Hines of Mapleton, Carolyn (Glenn Lussky) Graham of Madison Lake, and Mark (Sandy) Steck of Canton, South Dakota; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Soost; and sister-in-law, Delores Steck.

Siebert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Conrad and John (Mabel) Steck; sister, Rosabelle (Marvin) Schultz; and son-in-law, Gordy Graham.
