Steven Mekeland

Steven F. Mekeland, age 65 of Lake Crystal, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato, surrounded by family and friends. 
 
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00pm-5:00pm Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Lake Crystal American Legion. 
 
Steven Frederick Jacob was born October 29, 1958 in Mankato to Donald L. and Arvala C. (Wendt) Mekeland, and is a 1977 graduate of Wellcome Memorial High School in Garden City. He worked as a welder and fabricator at Kato Engineering prior to retirement. Steven enjoyed weight lifting and body building in his younger years; and continued to enjoy kayaking, hunting, fishing, taking care of the farm, grilling (especially steak), taking drives in the country, and playing dice while visiting with friends. 
 
Left to remember Steven are his daughters: Crystal (Ryan) Jordan, and Hailey; grandchildren: Connor, Lillian and Ryder Jordan, and Clara Mekeland; stepson, Monte Martin; siblings: Donald, Cheryl (Marvin) Blok, Karen (Tom) Hickok, Kathy Boelter, and Patti Koehler; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, David.
