Steve Thomas Raymond, 72 of Mankato, MN passed away on July 17, 2025, in Mankato, MN doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle.
Steve was born on June 14, 1953, in Crookston, MN, to Helen and Onezime Raymond. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and remained a devoted member of Saints Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church throughout his life. His faith was the rock that gave him strength in hard times and the foundation he used to care for those around him.
Steve had a deep love for life’s beauty and revelled in experiences for the senses, especially sight, sound, and taste. He enjoyed hiking in nature and capturing its beauty, from tiny mushrooms to sweeping landscapes, in his photography. He found joy in music, both listening at home and attending live performances. And he was passionate about bringing people together by cooking meals to delight and satisfy. Whether trying something new or preparing an old favorite, Steve’s kitchen was always filled with warmth and laughter.
But perhaps nothing stirred Steve’s spirit quite like motorcycles. Riding wasn’t just a hobby, it was an experience that engaged all his senses. In his garage hung a framed cycle magazine article that perfectly captured this passion: “I love the thrill, the look, the art, the feel, the smell, the taste, the sensual adventure of motorcycles. I love how bikes make me dream. I love how bikes make me who I am. I love how a motorcycle is never just a motorcycle. I love motorcycles.” That quote reflected not only how he rode but how he lived: with intensity, appreciation for beauty, and passionate involvement.
Above all else, Steve loved his family deeply. He put them first in every decision and showed his love with actions more than words. His loss is felt deeply by those who knew him.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Raymond. This year would have marked their 47th wedding anniversary, a testament to their enduring partnership and love. Together they raised three children: Nicole Dwinell of Mankato, MN; Kate (Justin) Kemppainen of Eagan, MN; and Alex (Brittany) Raymond of Blaine, MN. Steve was a proud grandfather to Lillian, Avalon, Marcus, Avery, and Benjamin. He is also survived by his siblings Lucianne R. Short-Clubb and Larry (Bonnie) Raymond.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Onezime Raymond; stepfather, Carl Aversen; and brother, Robert Raymond.
