Lake Crystal

Steven George Ribbel, age 71, of Lake Crystal, MN passed away in his home on July 14th, 2025.

Steven “Ribbel” was born on November 28th, 1953, to Dr. William and Joanne Ribbel in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated in 1972 from Brainerd High School and later obtained his bachelor’s degree in psychology (University of Minnesota) and accounting (Minnesota State University, Mankato).

In 1978, Steven and Miriam Webber were joined in marriage for 47 years. They had three daughters, Kay, Jeannie, and Anna.

He owned the Lake Crystal Dairy Queen for 36 years. He partnered with the local school district to mentor students—especially those with disabilities—helping them develop valuable job skills. He retired in 2018.

Ribbel will always be remembered for the love of his family. He built his life around his wife and three girls. “Ribs” had a great sense of humor. He had a patient spirit and gentle affection towards his grandchildren. Ribbel spent summer days teeing off at local golf courses. He enjoyed fishing in icy conditions up north or guided tours with good friends. He was the appointed grill master of the family, perfecting the main course.

Steven is survived by his wife, Miriam Webber, his three daughters, Kay (Bradley) Olson, Jeannie Ribbel (Ryan Berg), Anna (Christian) Barnes, his mischievous “mini” goldendoodle, Victor, his four grandchildren, ages 4 and under (Kate Rose, Lewis, Noah, Beau), his sisters, Suzanne Frambers and Catherine (Stephen) Edel, and his brother, William (Deborah Jacobs) Ribbel, his sister-in-law, Lydia Webber, niece and nephew Koryn and Leah Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William and Joanne Ribbel, his father-in-law, Kenneth Webber, his mother-in-law, Dorothy Webber, and brother-in-law, David Frambers.

A private family service will be held. Public visitation will be on Friday, July 18th from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
