Susan Ellen Fasnacht

Susan Ellen Fasnacht, a retired New Prague school teacher and former Madison Lake resident, died at the age of 73 on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato.

Susan (Sue) Fasnacht passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2023, at Mankato Mayo Hospital.

Born in 1950 to Cyril J. and Iverna S. Fasnacht, Sue attended Good Counsel Academy High School in Mankato and graduated from the College of St Benedict, St Joseph, with a degree in education. Sue expanded her classroom experience by teaching in Seattle and Australia. She was actively involved as a teacher and volunteer in the New Prague school system for over 40 years. 

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Iverna, and her sister, Geraldine. Sue was the beloved sister of Sharon Gray (Hanson Reynolds), Cyril A. (Sandy) Fasnacht, Christine Welch, Mahogany Eller, and Joel (Jadell) Fasnacht. Sue was a loving aunt to Nicole Gray, Jake (Linda) Gray, Jolene Schladweiler, Mike (Anne) Schladweiler, Zachary Welch, Andrew Welch, Jessica Welch, Allison Welch (Joel Youngblom), Cinder Eller (Alphonso) Kimbell, Regis (Nicole) Eller, Holiday Eller (Aly) Samabaly, Avi Eller, Gabriell Fasnacht, Isabell Fasnacht, and eight grandnieces and grandnephews. 

Sue will be remembered as a legendary educator and a dedicated friend.

Please join us for a celebration of life, on Friday, December 8th, 4:00 to 7:00 pm, at the Park Ballroom, 300 Lexington Ave S, New Prague. Light refreshments will be served with a cash beverage bar.

Memorial donations may be made in Sue’s name to Falcon Ridge Elementary School, 1200 Columbus Ave, New Prague, Minnesota 56071.

A second memorial service in Sue’s honor will be held in Madison Lake in 2024. Details to be announced.
