Susan Hammar

Susan “Susie” Justina Hammar, 72, of Mankato, passed away January 14, 2021 at her home after a long illness.

A private service will be held at a later date. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.

Susie was born May 9, 1948 to Frank and Luella (Ewert) Mead in Mankato. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1966. Susie attended Mankato VoTech for graphic design. She worked as a graphic designer for the Mankato Free Press for 37 years. 

On September 15, 1995 she married Eric “Rick” Hammar at Niagara Falls. In her free time, Susie enjoyed feeding the birds in the back yard and spending time with her pets. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and horse racing with her husband, Rick.

Susie is survived by her husband, Rick of 25 years; brothers, David Mead and Kenny (Cindy) Mead of Mankato; sister, Janet (Gary) Williams of Phoenix, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Robert (Sharon) Mead.
