Thelma Asleson

Thelma Asleson, age 84, of Madison Lake, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 at Diamond Willow in Cloquet, MN.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Mankato with Pastor John Petersen officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr., in North Mankato and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Our Saviour's Lutheran Cemetery, Butternut.  Memorials are preferred to Christ the King Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Thelma was born on September 26, 1937 in Mankato, MN to Lonnie and Thelma (Thormodson) Thorstad. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1955. Thelma married the love of her life, David Asleson on October 4, 1958. Thelma worked in various office jobs starting off as a switchboard operator and retired in 2002 after 20 years in the business office at the Mankato Clinic. Thelma was a long-time member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. Thelma was a member of the Sons of Norway and enjoyed learning about her Norwegian heritage and excelled at the art of making Krum Kake. Thelma enjoyed hosting the traditional Norwegian Christmas Eve celebration with extended family. She especially loved spending time at the gazebo on Lake Ballentyne with family and friends.

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Bryan) Ball of Carlton, MN; sister, Eda Engles of Lake Crystal; sister-in-law, Marie Thorstad; brother-in-law, Allan Asleson; sister-in-law, Sharon (Lowell) Kutches; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; brothers, Loren and Myron; infant sister; stepmother, Selma Thorstad; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Asleson and Virginia Asleson; brothers-in-law, and Arden Asleson and Ralph Engles.
