Thomas Moore

Mar 16, 1946 — Jun 27, 2026

Mankato, MN

Thomas Charles Moore, age 80, died peacefully on June 27, 2026 at Laurels Peak in Mankato with Donna, wife of 60 years and constant companion, by his side.

Tom was born March 16, 1946 to Charles and Elaine (St Peter) Moore in Mankato, MN.

After graduating from Loyola High School, Tom enlisted in the United States Air Force. While training in Cheyenne, Wyoming, he married Donna Stapelman and of that union their son, Thomas Moore Jr was born. Family in tow, Tom served in Air Rescue in Aviano, Italy. They traveled extensively in Italy and Europe while stationed there.

After returning home to Mankato, Tom worked as a telephone lineman then a licensed Prudential Life Insurance rep. He bought his father’s oil business and a gas station. Tom and Donna enjoyed working together for the next 25 years and taking care of their customers at Moore Oil.

Tom was a gifted woodworker and could fix anything and everything. His leisure time was spent at Madison Lake enjoying boating and skiing and bonfires on the beach. He had a perceptively witty sense of humor. He taught his granddaughter Taylor how to not run into a building with a golf cart.

Tom was preceded in death by his son Tom Moore Jr, his parents Chuck and Elaine Moore, brother Keith Moore, sister Mary(Mike) Schwartzbauer and in-laws Bill and Donna Stapelman.

Tom is survived by his loving wife Donna Lee Moore, grand son Logan Moore, grand daughter Taylor (Brenden) Carlson and great grand daughter Brynlee Carlson, brother Dan Moore, sister Peggy (Tim) Sherman, and three other sisters Marcia, Marilyn, Cathy; and brother-in-law Bill Stapelman. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and best friends Tina and Marilyn, Dwight and Karen, Jim and Darla, and Bill and Sharron.

Thank you to the staff at Laurels Peak for caring for Tom.
