It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Francis Treloar, who left us on September 1, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on June 3, 1966, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tommy was the beloved son of Kenneth and Patricia (Dolan) Treloar. He grew up in a lively household, welcomed by his older siblings, Mary and David, and later joined by his younger sister, Susie.
Tommy was a kid who shined from the get-go. He graduated from Hopkins High School in 1984, where he was not only a talented athlete, playing football, hockey, and baseball, but also a friend to many, bridging the gap between various cliques.
After high school, he spent a year at the University of Minnesota in Duluth, but family and friends would say his real education came from life itself. He was awarded an honorary master's in Theology of Life just by living it every day! About 20 years ago, Tommy rediscovered his faith, which brought him immense fulfillment. He became a fierce follower of Christ and was always there for those in need.
Tommy was the kind of guy who showed up when it mattered most, bringing light and laughter to everyone around him. He took pride in his sobriety journey, achieving his Certified Drug Counselor certification just this past summer. His passion for helping others was matched only by his love for sports. He had a long career in sports broadcasting, providing commentary for everything from the high school state tournaments to the Super Bowls. Whether holding a microphone or engaging in heartfelt conversations, Tommy was never shy to speak his mind.
Tommy was charismatic, kind, sassy, witty, caring, and full of compassion. He had a presence that lit up every room and a heart that touched everyone he met. Friends remember him as outspoken and fearless, a fierce follower of Christ, a loyal companion, and a true champion of the downtrodden. His life was a testament to love, faith, and the courage to stand up for what mattered most.
The family was deeply fortunate to have Tommy back in the Mankato area, where he lovingly cared for his aging parents during their final years. He also cherished the time he spent with his great-nieces and great-nephews, proudly serving as both “manny” and chauffeur for their many activities and events.
Tommy will forever be remembered by his daughter, Cali Kramer of Brainerd; siblings, Mary (Larry) Krmpotich of Mankato, David Treloar of Houston, TX, and Susie (Casey) Kersten of Mankato; nieces, Katie Long, Kristi (Nick) Degen, Macy (Jay) Louricas, Karla (Christopher) Borrecco, Kit (Will) Sonnek, and Allie Kersten; great-nieces and great-nephews, Annie Long, Ben Long, Bobby Long, David Long, Martin Long, Gracie Long, Ezrehn Degen, Emryck Degen, Evelyn Degen, Eddie Degen, Elijah Degen, Emmanuel Degen, Ephrem Degen, Dayton Louricas, Austin Louricas, and Danny Sonnek; aunt and uncle, Jeanne (Mike) Markell and Jim (Mary Kay) Dolan; and many, many cousins.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister.
