Virginia C. Kass, age 73, of Mankato, died on Friday, April 29, 2022 due to complications from cancer.
Private services will be held for the family.
Virginia Carole, the daughter of Adrian and Lucille (Asberry) Penkaty, was born on December 25, 1948 in Cleveland, OH. She graduated from Chardon High School in 1967. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at the Newport Naval Dental Clinic in Newport, RI. Virginia was united in marriage to Dennis E. Kass on November 29, 1969 in Chardon, OH. Dennis and Virginia moved to Mankato and she graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor’s of Science in 1978. They owned and operated Kass Dental Lab in Mankato for 42 years. Virginia had a passion for rescue dogs and gave 19 of them a forever home. Virginia was a member and mentor of both Gallbladder and Bile Duct Cancer Support Group and Cholangiocarcinoma Warriors: Patients Only. She was an encourager and an inspiration to all the members in these groups. She also was the Administrator of Dog Talk and Tibbies and Friends Facebook groups.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; sister, Andrea Smith; nieces and nephews, Michael Penkaty, Tina Penkaty, Paul Penkaty, and Kimberly Penkaty; and sisters in law, Gayle Kass (David Zimmer) and Linda (Vern) Wagner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Dennis and Paul.
