Obituary

William “Bill” Paul Becker died September 25, 2026, at his home after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato, MN on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. A visitation will start one hour prior. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato, MN.

Bill was born March 6, 1959 to William and Helga (Liebsch) Becker of North Mankato. He graduated from Mankato East High School and participated in the work program at MRCI for many years. He then transitioned to the MRCI EASE program which he enjoyed attending. Bill had a lifelong love of music and played the organ, keyboard and accordion. His unique musical talent was discovered as a young boy, and he could play any song he heard once entirely from memory. Bill enjoyed traveling with his mother and loved old TV shows and movies. Bill was a resident of multiple homes of the Harry Meyering Center where he enjoyed his housemates, and staff of loving dedicated care givers who made each day a little brighter. Bill was a lifelong member of St Paul's Lutheran Church where he participated in Jesus Cares.

Bill is survived by his mother, Helga Becker of Mankato; his sister, Carla Pihl of Lakewood Ranch, FL; nephews, Brett Pihl of Austin, TX and Tyler Pihl of Seattle, WA.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, and his brother-in-law Douglas Pihl.

To everyone at MRCI, Harry Meyering Center, and St. Croix Hospice, thank you for your kindness and the care you have given Bill. You all made a difference.
