William “Billy” Fogal, age 90, of Mankato, died Monday, January 9, 2017, at Laurel’s Edge in Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2017, at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. Visitation will be held one hour before service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, Waldorf. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church, Waldorf. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
William “Billy” was born September 12, 1926, to Joseph and Anna (Janike) Fogal in Waldorf, the second youngest of 14 children. He was confirmed on March 27, 1945, at First Lutheran Church, Waldorf by Rev. Carl Gunderman. He graduated from Waldorf High School in 1945. On May 12, 1948, he married Irene Schwarz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danville Township. Billy worked in sales all his life and for many years at Miller Motors in Mankato, selling truck and tractor tires. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his many cars, especially his amphibious “Amphicar” which he enjoyed driving on land and water. He was a very staunch Lutheran his whole life. Billy and Irene enjoyed their cabin west of Duluth deer hunting and enjoying nature.
Billy is survived by his wife, Irene; sister, Marie Kerbo of Lake Havasu, AZ; sister-in-law, Rosa Fogal of Owatonna, MN; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Billy was preceded in death by 12 siblings, Anna Groskreutz, Elizabeth Metzler, Rosie Lehman, Stella Johnson, Jim Fogal, Ed Fogal, Chris Fogal, Francis Fogal, Ben Fogal, June Fogal, John Fogal, and Katherine Meyer.
