Daniel J. Lein

Daniel J. Lein, age 68, of Madison Lake, MN passed away on June 20, 2020. 

Daniel was born in Belmond, Iowa on March 9, 1952 and graduated from Thompson High School in 1970.  Dan enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1972 and served until discharged in 1974.

Dan attended Mankato State University before embarking on a career in sales and support with NCR in Bloomington MN.  In 1994, Dan launched his own corporation, Latitude44, Inc. with headquarters in Madison Lake, MN.  Dan offered opportunity to several individuals over 25 year and valued their friendship and contribution.

Dan’s favorite times were gathering with friends, playing guitar and singing.  He enjoyed sailing the lakes of Minnesota and chartered several sailing trips in the Caribbean.  He shared his love for music and sailing with his family and friends, they made music, sang and sailed together throughout his life. 

Daniel was preceded in death by his mother, Janis and is survived by his father, Kenneth; sisters, Julie (John) Spiess, Mary (Paul) Aukes; his brother, Brian; stepdaughters, Nicki Schaefer and  Jessica Kubes; and many aunts, uncles, nieces,  nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Daniel’s life will be announced at a later date.  It was Dan’s wish that memorials be sent to Mayo Clinic Hospice - Mankato, or the charity of the donor’s choice.  Mankato Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
